I had the strangest dream last night. I don't know where we were, what town we were in or anything, but you were sharing a house with some friends I apparently knew in the dream, but they're not real people I know in my life. I came over to hang out with your roommates and as I pass by one of the bedrooms in the hallway, suddenly there you were, in a room - safe to assume it was yours and no one else's since all of your stuff was in it. I was so shocked to see you and I started crying right then and there. You just smiled like you knew that's what I'd been doing all along and you gave me a hug and I never wanted to let you go in that moment because I had a sinking feeling that you weren't here to stay, even though you were here now, all your stuff back where it should be, and you were standing with me, hugging me. I told you how much I missed you in between sobs and how hard it was and you told me you knew and you were sorry. I told you again that I missed you and you told me thank you for the freedom I gave you. You gave me a kiss and said I had to go soon because you did too
I know there was more to the dream, and that's where it gets even more just, out there. You were working across the street from your house at this community center, and we were both day camp counselors and I knew some of the kids and it was all just odd. It was all trivial really compared to the part when I first saw you there, and there was no real significance to any of the later stuff except I just knew I didn't want to let you out of my sight because the moment I did, you'd be gone. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. We were standing in the gym with this massive group of kids and I lost sight of you briefly as I was giving one of the kids a piggy-back ride. I remember looking around frantically trying to find you, and suddenly you stood up, you'd been helping a kiddo tie his shoe. Then my attention was pulled away again by one of the other kids and when I looked back to find you, you were gone. Just like that. Again. Then I woke up.
